Salvation Examined

Main Point

One theme that runs through scripture is that man cannot save himself. Equally present in scripture is that God can and does make a way to salvation. Peter in these three verses explains that salvation is an amazing thing. He lists four people who have looked at salvation from different viewpoints.

The prophets in the Old Testament looked forward to the Messiah and God’s salvation. The Holy Spirit empowers believers to believe and share this salvation with others. The apostles in the New Testament preached and proclaimed this message to others, as well as writing to us. Even the angels, look at God’s plan of salvation and ponder it.

Salvation is truly great and amazing. It is something that we each must examine and investigate for ourselves. When we grab hold of salvation in our lives we should be compelled to share it with others by the empowering of the Holy Spirit.

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.
