Friendship

Big Idea: Genuine friendship is at the core of Helping People Find Their Way Back to God.

Icebreaker: Who was your best friend growing up? Why were they your friend?

Key Scripture:

Matthew 11:19; John 13:15; Luke 22:24-27

Discussion Questions:

  1. Do you think it is easier or harder to develop friends? Why? Do you think that is leading people to desire true friendships? How can we help these people?
  2. During the message, we were encouraged to 1) Step up; 2) Shut up; 3) Show up...in friendship. Which one is easiest and which is hardest for you to do?
  3. Read Luke 22:24-27. In general, why is it so hard to serve? What needs to change in us to make us servants? S - Serve - Who can you serve this week?
  4. S - Share your story. Each of us needs to be prepared to share our story of how we came to believe in Jesus. Take a few minutes and write down: 1) What your life was like before you accepted Jesus; 2) What happened when you decided to trust in Jesus; 3) What your life looks like after accepting Jesus.

MOVING FORWARD

Father, thank you for entrusting us with the commision to take your gospel to those that don't know you. We ask you to give us servant-hearts, filled with compassion for the lost just like Jesus. Empower us to love like Jesus. It's in His name, amen.
